Below is the information needed for 2024’s spring flag football season.

NEW LEADERSHIP
The Murray reign of terror will officially be over this spring and the new league director, Justin Colby, will be taking over. He’ll be learning the ropes this coming session, so he can hit the ground running next fall.

Starting tomorrow, the new league email will be: mudhogsflagfootball@gmail.com
If you have any questions, this is the email to use. This will allow both Justin and I an opportunity to see the email and respond promptly.

On top of that, we will also be having division leaders, who will be responsible for the day-to-day of divisions. They too will be learning the ropes this spring. They are…

Derrick Kirsch – Grades 7-8
Morgan Marshall – Grades 5-6
Jeff Brand – Grades 3-4
Ashley Marolda – Grades K-2
Justin will oversee the girls divisions

Treat them as if you would treat your own mother.

Moving on…

REGISTRATION
Registration begins tomorrow, February 7 at Farmington Recreation.
Officially, registration ends at the end of March, but trust me, spots will not remain open that long. The available spots fill up fast. If you fail to land one, please go on the waitlist. Kids do come off that. It will come down to if we have enough coaches.

SPRING SEASON
The season begins the first Sunday after spring break on April 21. It’s six weeks and will go through June 2 (we are off for Memorial Day Weekend). However, because we suddenly all live in Seattle now, we might have a rainout at some point. Whether we do a make-up day will always be a last second decision because it comes down to whether we can get a field that second Sunday of June.

GAMES
All our games are played on Sunday morning, although some of the younger kids will see their games start in the early afternoon, depending on how many kids we have. Once again we will have four fields at Irving Robbins Middle School. As always, spring is the more relaxed session. There are no playoffs or trophies to hand out.

PRACTICE
There are no weekday practices in the spring. Instead, coaches will hold short practices before the games on Sunday. We understand that other spring sports like baseball, lacrosse, soccer and hockey can take up a lot of time, so we simply try to stay out of the way, so your child can still play their favorite sport (flag!!).

GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL
Over the last year and a half I’ve been trying to get more girls to play the sport. When we’ve been successful finding enough players, for the most part, they have loved it. If anyone has a daughter that is interested, we’d love to have her.

COACH VOLUNTEERS
Once you register your child, if you are interested in coaching flag football, please reach out. We are only as good as our volunteers. The younger kids (grades K-1 and grade 2) are where we are especially short heading into the season. As I always say, having extensive football knowledge is not important. We can provide plenty of information to get any parent started. What we want are good people.

The reality is, one day your child will be given a phone and you will not exist anymore, other than as a driver and a provider of food. That’s it. Now is the time to soak it all in and there is no better way to soak than to bond by coaching flag football.
